Passengers affected by a raft of cancellations by Flybe must be booked onto flights operated by rival carriers should they still want to travel, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) says, and could be due additional compensation under EU laws.

Flybe, which runs regional and European services from around the UK, cancelled dozens of flights on Wednesday morning, citing operational reasons.

Anyone affected is entitled to travel on an alternative flight – even that of another airline – according to EU regulations, or a full refund. Flybe apologised to passengers and said, though “95 per cent [of its flights were] operating as normal… we do recognise the impact of today’s cancellations”.
